De-Termination (Quarter Life Book 2) has launched! #booklaunch #newrelease #vampire

On December 1, my first book in 4.5 years launched! De-Termination (Quarter Life Book 2) has entered into the world as we know it.

This book was originally supposed to launch in October 2016, and I apologize sincerely for its delay, but I’m in a  much better place now to launch it than I was then.

Book 3, Release, is WRITTEN! And has a publication date in 2021. So do not fear, you will not have to wait another 4.5 years for that one. I’m slated to begin work on Book 4 this December.

Here’s what you need to know about De-Termination.

Faye’s been Molly’s lover and agent for her creature-hunting friends for a year, but she’s still unsettled and unwilling to fully explore her Tainted Side. She is sent on a mission and disappears in South America.

Molly, a powerful witch, searches for Faye ruthlessly, leading to conflict with her team. Meanwhile, she’s brought Amelia in to help, and Amelia has her sights on seducing Molly as things fall apart.

There may no longer be such a thing as home sweet home.

Manipulating a powerful witch isn’t as easy as Faye hoped.

She infiltrates Molly the witch’s mysterious house under the guise of needing help. And the guise of being harmless. Totally not a vampire at all. Unfortunately, Molly’s secrets are difficult to discover. She’s almost as good at hiding things as Faye herself.

Molly’s staff are as weird as they are distrustful, but Faye begins to win Molly over. Then A mob boss discovers what Faye’s after. Faye finds herself putting her life in Molly’s hands.

Will secrets doom their relationship, or will they form a powerful team?

The enemy isn’t always who we expect.

The wicked witch reigns supreme. As Molly gets closer to Dark Face in an attempt to locate Faye and draw her home, she makes reckless decisions, which are oftentimes dangerous.

With a frantic phone call, Faye leaves her respite and goes on a mission to save Molly. She flies across the world to find Molly’s trainer, a witch named Malek, who has more answers than Faye knew she had questions.

They never hesitate to go to the ends of the earth to save each other, but this time, it leads Faye directly into Dark Face’s hands.

Brandi Carlile Rabbit Hole #ROW80 #NaNoWriMo

So many rabbit holes this week, but the one I’m super excited about is Brandy Carlile music! It’s my new favorite station on Pandora to write to. My kids are so tired of be “playing music” on the TV instead of television shows for them. I keep telling them it’ll make them smarter, but I don’t think the 4 year old and 2 year old care much.

As for ROW80, I hit some goals this week but I also again slowed down this week. Seems to happen when I finish something. Totally normal! I finished writing my lawyer piece, ended up having to rewrite the whole last 4-5 chapters of outline. I finished editing Eira, formally know as Glacial Freeze/Thaw. FINALLY NAMED THAT SUCKER! Thanks all goes to my spouse who named it for me. I also sent it in for submission.

Because I finished writing a piece, I was supposed to write Love Burns: Take 2 next for NaNoWriMo, which my goal was to write three romantic pieces, but…I don’t know…just wasn’t feeling it? I managed the first chapter, and stopped to outline Young & Old. Ended up writing the first full chapter of that which was much easier. So the next 8 days of NaNo, I’m either going to focus on Young & Old or I’m going to flip flop between the two of them. Who knows.

De-Termination marketing has picked up massively. My release is 8 days away. Eeeek! So, I’m working on finishing filling out slots for my release party (need at least 1 more preferably). I need to check in with ARC reviewers, and I’ve been making teasers and figuring out posts. I’ll start doing my live readings of De-Termination next weekend after one more live reading of Unbound on Tuesday.

SIDE NOTE: I realized I needed a series bible for well everything. Anyway, so I started work on that, specifically focusing on Agent Morgan Stones series and Grace Halling Series stuff because those two are so interconnected and Morgan is a new series so best place to start. I think I’m going to take the last week in December, when I’m on vacation from day job, and really work on some of this.

This was long, but like I said, so many rabbit holes this week! I’m going to go swoon over some more Brandi Carlile now.

ROW80 Update #ROW80

Good morning!

I’ve been working hard (kind of). I’ve actually been resting a lot too. I had surgery last week, and recovery has been slow. Here’s my mid-week update on what I’ve been doing.

For marketing, I’m learning about Amazon Ads, I’m looking at blog tours and a release event for De-Termination which is coming up QUICK! I got my pre-order links today.

I participated in a podcast of sorts! Chanel Ivy has a podcast where she reads the sexy parts of books, so I sent her over an excerpt from De-Termination for the month of October, a spooky scene with Faye & Molly pushing each other’s buttons and trying to entice the other to their own ways.

If you want to take a listen, go here! It was an interesting and fun experience.

I have been writing…slowly…Sun, Sea, and Gwyn. I’m almost done with chapter 3 as of this morning. I don’t know why this piece is so slow going compared to my normal writing, but it is. I’ve also been distracted with edits and market, so that might be why.

I started editing Broken & Wear (Missing Persons 2) yesterday. I’m 3 chapters in out of 21. Onward and forward.

Oh! Oh! I did get the first round of covers for Stone’s Mistake (Agent Morgan Stone 1) and I’m in love! Can’t wait to share it when I get the final version.

See you all Sunday!

De-Termination (Quarter Life 2) #amwriting #backlist #newrelease #comingsoon

SO! I realized this morning that I had announced over on my Facebook but I forgot to announce here. Ooops!

De-Termination (Quarter life 2) will release on December 1st!

This is huge, you guys. Seriously. This book was originally supposed to release in 2016, but life got in my way, and instead of writing it, I didn’t. I finally wrote it this summer, and since a lot of the back work was already done (cover, blurb, etc) because it’s been planned for 4 years, my publisher and I agreed to release it December 1st rather than wait until 2021.

What this means for everyone else.

Unbound (Quarter Life 1) is currently on sale (ebook only) for $2.99. If you get it and read it, please leave a review! They are so helpful in many ways, AND it lets me know what you think. I don’t even care if you hated it, leave me a review. =P

De-Termination releases December 1st, so ARC copies will be going around shortly and a blog tour set up, and a release event. If you are an author or blogger and interested in any of those, let me know.

NOW for the fun part!

I have decided every Tuesday from here on out, I will be doing a live reading from Unbound every week until De-Termination releases. I’ll be reading one chapter a week over on my Facebook page. It’ll net us 7-8 chapters I believe. Chapter 1 is already up.

This is a huge celebration for me. I’ve been out of the writing game for 4-5 years, and it feels so good to be back in it! Let’s celebrate in a huge way!

Faye’s been Molly’s lover and agent for her creature-hunting friends for a year, but she’s still unsettled and unwilling to fully-explore her Tainted Side. She is sent on a mission and disappears in South America.

Molly, a powerful witch, searches for Faye ruthlessly, leading to conflict with her team. Meanwhile, she’s brought Amelia in to help, and Amelia has her sights on seducing Molly as things fall apart.

A bittersweet turn #WIPpetWednesday #WIP #AmWriting

We’re back to it! This may be the fastest I have ever written, but De-Termination is rapidly coming to an end for me. I have three chapters left to write today and the novel is done. I’m already at 101,000 words, which I’ve written in less than three weeks.

But alas, today is WIPpet Wednesday, which means I’m sharing a chunk from De-Termination since that is my current WIP. I’m about to hit some serious editing hell with all these books I keep finishing and avoiding editing, so bear with me in a few months when I want to drown in the vodka. If you want to beta read something for me, send me a message! I need all the help I can get.

This chunk comes from chapter 36 of De-Termination. I’m not going to give a whole lot of context because…well…spoilers. I do, however, want to mention things between our love interests, Faye & Molly, have been less than romantic and far more on the bittersweet side. They both just keep missing the mark when it comes to the other.

So here we have it. 12 paragraphs for the 12th of August. Voila! Bear with me as this is completely unedited, but it’s 11:15pm and someone needs sleep.

She’d stopped by Joel’s office first, but the room lights were off and it was quiet inside. Sighing heavily, she went in search of Ben to see if he’d gleaned anything from his research. When she found the work room empty and void of light as well, she leaned against the wall.

It was late. They could have gone to bed. She needed answers right away, at least she’d convinced herself of that after leaving Amelia’s room. Walking precisely and decidedly back to the elevator, Molly headed for Ben’s room. She knocked on his door three times before turning the handle and opening it. Once again she was greeted with an empty room.

“Bloody hell.” Her heart jumped. She had one last resort before she would try to confirm her suspicions.

Joel’s room was also barren of her team. Letting out a huff, Molly headed from the residential floor straight for her office on the topmost floor. Flicking the lights on as she entered, she sat down at her desk. She had reports from Ben in her email, but she bypassed them since none of the subjects read urgent. If he’d found something, he would have made sure she’d known about it.

It took her thirty minutes to find video footage of Ben in his work room, packing up a bag. Biting her lip, she followed him on the camera to his room and then back to the garage where Joel interrupted him leaving. Joel disappeared and came back with a bag of his own. They set off.

“Fuck,” Molly muttered.

Reaching up, she brushed her fingers against her temple and the migraine settling into the center of her head. She rubbed at her tense muscles in her neck, checking their phones to see where they might have gone. When she finally got the tracking to work, she had to do a double take.

They were over the pacific ocean. Licking her lips, Molly pulled up the flight manifest for her private jet. They were set to arrive in Paraguay in four hours. Slamming her hand onto her desk, she shot out of her chair and leaned over the computer. “What the hell?”

Everyone was ignoring her orders. First Amelia refused to look for Faye, then these two up and went on their own mission without even discussing it with her? All because of one stubborn and impulsive vampire who insisted on leaving without permission and getting herself into a whole lot of damn trouble.

Her house was falling apart. Sinking back into her chair, Molly closed her eyes and shook her head. What was happening? Ever since Faye had arrived, nothing had been even-keeled or balanced. Her life was slowly falling into ruins at the hands of a vampire who didn’t even want to be a vampire. Cursing again, Molly stood up straight from her desk and headed for the parapet. The cold air shocked some sense into her and the anger from her chest. Leaning against the stone wall, she closed her eyes, focusing on Faye.

Faye had been a wrench in her life, something unexpected that had taken her on a beautiful turn. Faye was the first time since Marcellus that she felt she could truly be with someone, someone who understood what it felt like to be so alone in a world that moved constantly around her while she stood still in the center frozen in time. Biting her lip, Molly shook her head, tears freely falling.

What was she going to do without her?

If you want more from WIPpet Wednesday, join me live over on my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/adrianjsmithbooks tonight somewhere around 8:30pm Mountain Time for a live reading of my WIPpet. It will most likely be a different excerpt just to keep it entertaining!

There’s Something Peculiar About #Trauma

I’m currently writing a novel that has a lot of trauma for one of my main characters happening within it, not only that, but it is very clear she has experienced similar trauma before. There’s something peculiar about trauma for sure. Trauma changes us. It changes the way we think and the way we behave.

I had this novel planned before my long absence from writing. I outlined it in 2016. In fact, it’s based off a fanfiction I wrote in early 2012 and throughout the rest of that year. So this piece of work has been on my mind and heart for a long time.

I put my character through the ringer, during this book, in other words.

I can’t help but notice the similarities in my own life now. None of this was the case when I first wrote it or plotted it out now, but as I rewrite and make it more my own, the similarities are stark. Mostly the emotion.

There is an intense amount of grief and mourning that comes with trauma. Sure, there’s the pain and the outrage at what happened. The shock. But the grief comes later. It comes when all of that has calmed down, and there this loss. Loss of stability, loss of innocence, loss of safety that can’t be compared with.

In 2018, I nearly died. Like…they had to shock me to get me back and gave me 11 units of blood total after I had my daughter. That changes a person. It morphs the way I think and feel and look at the world. I look at it from a whole different place.

With Faye, this character I put through the ringer, I’m really resonating with that in her. It’s the first time I’ve written her that it’s been easy to write her. She’s by far the hardest character for me. She’s crazy, she has very little restraint in what she says and does, she isn’t quite sure on ethics and morals, and she came into this world unwanted and completely alone. None of which I can readily relate to.

But this I can. This is something I think a lot of us can relate to. Not only the changes within ourselves but the changes in our relationships. Faye and Molly were in a pretty decent spot when we left them in Unbound but this just throws them for a whole new loop, and it comes into question whether or not they will recover from it. They’re trying. Both of them. But they just seem to be missing the mark a lot of the time.

I really can’t wait for you all to read this story and to actually know what I’m talking about. I don’t want to spoil a bunch of it for you! Faye’s past trauma comes to bite her in the ass just as much as the new trauma, and Molly’s failures and fears as well. It’s a non-stop cycle of oh my god, what now, and we need to do something about this.

Really, can’t wait!

Long time no type…?

It has been a long time since I have truly ventured into the world of writing and publishing. I wanted to be sure in my last foray into it that I was going to stick with it. I’m glad to say it’s been about a month now of me writing consistently, well mostly.

I had two unfinished romance novels that I have finished this month. The first is tentatively titled Learning Love and involves lessons in life we all need. The second is titled About Time and is a sweet sassy romance between a doctor and a chaplain.

I’ve also begun looking at some of my series again. I reread Unbound this past weekend…yes, the whole thing in two days. I forgot how freakin’ crazy Faye is! haha Before I dropped off the face of the planet, I had outlined 3/4 of the second book. I already knew everything that was going to happen and Faye has been reminding me that I need to write her.

I’ll be working on De-Termination next. But this is a LONG book, 41 chapters planned already! So it’ll be a bit for it to come to fruition. While I’d intended this book to drop in 2017, it’ll now hopefully be 2021!

Next up? My best friend, Grace. God, Grace needs some attention so badly!

Some people might think I’ve been focusing on having two toddlers running around which is why I put a pause on writing, but it is so much more than that. After experiencing an incredibly medically complicated and scary miscarriage in early 2017 and then a near death experience in 2018, I had to focus on my own mental well being. I had to figure my shit out, in other words. I’m still working on it, but I also realize how much I need to be writing to keep my sanity.

Back to the grind, then!

A break and some refocusing #ROW80

Well, I just got back from the SO’s graduation, and wow, it was busy busy busy. So needless to say, I got not much done. However, I wasn’t getting much done on my goals before that. I realize I need to reevaluate a bit and then hunker down and do some work.

A few things have happened since I maybe last posted. I don’t remember much. My book, Memoir in the Making, released with a week long release party on Facebook and a tour. And oh boy, talk about time consuming, way more than I thought it would be. I’ve also been gearing up for my next release on June 1, and that party. Not to mention, I asked to have a release date bumped from June 2016 to December 2015, meaning I don’t have anything written yet that will release in 2016.

Which is a scary thought for me. I’m a planner, and I usually always have these things done well before I need to have them be done, so yeah, freaking out slightly on this one.

Goal for this year is to write 2-3 more books so I can have some 2016 releases. I’m almost done with one book! yay! but that leaves at least one more than needs to be outlined and written. So much work to do!

For those who were following my goals, I’m redoing them a bit. I finished my May copy-edit and my second one bounced on me, meaning I don’t have a copy edit until mid-June now. *evil laugh* This also means I get to massively focus on my own work for the first time in something like 8 months. So here goes, new goals and how I shall achieve them.

1. Lost & Forsaken — write 1 chapter a day until complete (7 chapters to go)

2. Simple Biology — write 1 chapter a day until complete (26 chapters to go)

3. Outline that novella thing the paranormal romance that has no name so, MILFy thing 3

4. Edit Grace through Redemption — 1 chapter a day until caught up, then as they come in from betas

5. Edit Unbound — 2 chapters a day until completed (round 1), 2 chapters a day until completed (round 2)

There be my new goals through the rest of this round of ROW80. Here’s to hoping I get them all done!!

Big Bird Mania #WIPpetWednesday #ROW80

Hey all! So I’ve taken it pretty easy this past weekend. After finding out a friend died on Friday morning and finishing my novel that same day, I really just needed a break from life in general, so I took it easy. I didn’t write for two whole days! *gasp* I know! That never happens!

Here’s my ROW80 update!

1. Write 1667 words a day, like NaNo.

Sunday: 0
Monday: 277
Tuesday: 2126

As you can see, I didn’t really hit my goal on Monday, but I did do some writing and reading over what I had written to catch back up to where I was. This is the issue when I go back to writing a piece I haven’t looked at in awhile.

2. keep up with all blog posts ROW80, WIPpet, Open When and add in 1 extra post a week

All done/scheduled for this week since I’ll be out of town Friday and Saturday

3. Edit at least one chapter a week on something.

not yet

4. crochet one round of border a week

not yet…on my to do list for tomorrow though!

and onto WIPpet! I finished my novel, but I do still have the companion short story to go with it, so I’ve been very slowly working on that. Thanks to Kate for lending me her mojo this afternoon for a few hours!

My math this week is awesome. This is from chapter 37 of Unbound and is 165 words of fun. My math? 201 – 10 – 22 – 4 = 165. There! Simple! Here we go. The context is they went to get a creature, it escaped, and now they’re chasing it. Faye has just fallen to the ground because of screeching from this magnificent bird-like thingy that has no name yet.

“Get up!” he yelled.

Once she made out the words, Faye pushed up from the ground slowly, her head and ears still aching. Joel was yelling at her again, but she couldn’t move any faster. The creature charged, but Joel held his line. Before Faye could knock him out of harms way, Amelia appeared and fired her own gun. Apparently Faye had been the only one not issued a weapon. She snarled and glared. She had a weapon of her own.

The tingles that had been racing up and down her spine were at a breaking point. Faye tapped into them and let them spring through her body. She hissed as her fangs appeared and her nails grew. She cracked her neck and stared at Big Bird as he faltered a step when Amelia put another bullet into him. Joel looked over her shoulder and his eyes widened.

“Shit,” he muttered.

“Watch out, Big Bird. I’m coming,” Faye said, her voice far lower than normal.

And that, my friends, is the end! Catch you on the flip side!

Beaten, bruised and run over…what else? #WIPpet &#ROW80

Hi there!!

We’re in a new round of ROW80, meaning I have new goals that I will hopefully accomplish during this round.

Goal 1: Write 1667 words a day and pretend it’s really NaNo.

Monday — 4729 words
Tuesday — 2308

Goal 2: Actually update on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Ummm…this post!

Goal 3: Edit one chapter a week on something.

Edited Chapter 1 of Unbound to send to second round betas.

so YAY!! onto WIPpet…

Here’s my math for the week. 10 + [(2+7) x 0] + 14 = 24. I did get all complicated because I wanted to use every number. So here’s 24 sentences from chapter 22 in Unbound. I’m nearing the end of the novel! w00t! There’s 29 chapters planned out, so here’s to hoping I stick to what I have of an outline. Remember, Emma = Faye, that name change happened. Oh and Caroline = Faye because she likes to have secret identities. Slight context here, Faye went after Kirill, this mob boss dude, for being an ass lol and so she can prove a point. That’ll all be revealed later, with the whole of the novel is my guess. Kirill beat the crap out of Faye and decided to leave Molly a present on her doorstep. Molly just figured out Caroline (in her head, Faye in reality) is not at the house.

Molly straightened up and reached for her radio.

“Amelia, get together three packs. Caroline went after Kirill.”

“What?”

“Just do it!” she spat into the radio before charging for her rooms.

Joel followed closely behind, still wiping the sleep from his eyes. He stopped just as she got to her room and asked, “How do you know?”

“I just do. It’s what I would have done. Go get ready. I’ll need you with me.”

Molly was waiting for them at the garage door for three minutes before she saw them both round the corner. If she didn’t know better, she would think they were dragging their feet. Sighing, she got into the van and started the engine.

Amelia opened the back and shoved three bags into it. Joel got into the front seat and turned his own radio on and checked his weapon before sliding it into his holster. They said nothing as Molly backed out of the garage and hit the remote to shut it after her. She turned around in the carport and drove straight for the gate. They opened seamlessly.

She gunned the engine once they were against the edges of the drive. Molly couldn’t stop when she saw it, when the blob on the dark surface of the sidewalk came into view. She tried to slam on her brakes, but she couldn’t make the van stop in time. She hit Caroline, driving over her with front wheels and back before she screeched the van to a stop.

“Shit!”

And that is where the chapter ends. =P If you’d like to join in with everyone else, here’s the linky to post yours. If not, use it and go read a bunch of other peoples posts. They’re all pretty awesome!

Disgust in One’s self #WIPpetWednesday

Hello all! It’s evening here, and I’m writing this post early, but I normally do. I have internet tomorrow, so I should be able to keep up with everyone’s post throughout the day. Yay!

To cut to the chase. I’ve been writing a lot lately. I haven’t quite managed to write every day, but I have at least managed to keep up in my goal of a word count. Mostly because of days like today where I write almost 7k words to make up for not writing the entire weekend. My weeks just seem to be getting busier and busier as they go along.

My goal is still to finished Quarter Life: Unbound by the end of October, and thank God! I’m on track to do that. I’m starting to think about my NaNo Project, which means at least plotting out the first few chapters in my head.

Anyway…onto WIPpet. Here’s my excerpt for the day from Quarter Life: Unbound. Now, I changed my MC’s name. Long story as to why, but it needed to happen. So now Faye=Emma. Same character, new name. This follows the chapter with the Troll from last week. You get 1 paragraph for the first of the month. My math is so easy today.

Here we go…

Mike breathed heavily on her, the air flowing from his mouth over her chest. Faye shifted slightly to a more comfortable position. The smell of his blood dominated her thoughts. She hated drinking from humans. It felt wrong to her, like a violation of trust. Most of them didn’t know she existed, yet she still preyed on them like animals. And they weren’t animals, they were intelligent monsters just like those in her own family line.

Hope you enjoyed! Check out other WIPpeteers here.

The troll under the bridge… #WIPpetWednesday

Hello all! It’s been 4 weeks since I’ve posted last! Insanity, I say! Well, I’m back and I’m ready to post. It’s also been awhile since I’ve written. Talking with my publisher last night has instilled in me the need to write yet again (although, it might have been instilled before then, but it’s going to happen now).

I don’t know if I’ve ever shared this, but I do have a writing goal per year. My goal is to publish 2-3 books a year, and thus far I’ve maintained that. But in 2015, I only have 1 book ready for publishing. Unfortunately, this means I need to get my ass in gear. Like seriously in gear.

So I have new goals. I did also drop off the ROW80 bandwagon, and it’s pretty much over for this round, so when the next round starts, I’ll be joining in that again. For now I have 3 goals until this end of the year.

1. Write 1 chapter of Quarter Life: Unbound every day. My goal was to write 1667 words (like fake NaNo) every day, but I think it’s just easier on my mind to do one chapter. The chapters in this novel are only about 2,000 words each anyway, so what’s a little more going to hurt? =P This will be finished just before NaNoWriMo.

2. Write a short story for submission to an anthology which is an introduction to Emma from the Quarter Life series. The story needs to be 8k-15k words, and guess what!? I already have the plot in my head.

3. During NaNoWriMo get at least 50k words written on Grace through Redemption, finish the novel if at all possible. If I don’t finish the novel during NaNo, then I’ll finish it during December and hopefully have it ready for publication late in 2015. If not, Unbound will be there for 2015 and I’ll have 2 novels for my goal!

I’m sharing my goals with you all so you can yell at me when I’m not working and hold me accountable.

As for WIPpet Wednesday, I’m finally getting to it, since I’m working on writing Unbound again and since I’ve finally made some good significant progress, I’m going to share from it. My math is simple today 30 short sentences. 24 +2 + 4 = 30

I wrote this yesterday morning in a writing sprint, and I’m absolutely in love with it. So here’s an excerpt from chapter 13 of Unbound. Emma has snuck out of the house, she isn’t sure if she’s going back due to something that happened, and she needs to get her “energy” fix. She’s trying to find her dealer. So here you go…the fantastical world Emma lives in come to life.

Heading down to the old part of town, Emma walked in the light rain. It drizzled on her face, soaking her sweatshirt and hair with the mist. She was drenched by the time she got to the bridge where she knew the troll lived.

Sneering, Emma slipped under the far end of it and leaned against the cement support. She took two deep breaths before turning around to face the carved troll and lifted her cheeks to his eyes.

“Hello, my friend,” she stated. She’d only come here once or twice before, but the troll would know what she needed to find.

The stone cracked and ground as it moved, the troll’s face becoming animated s it broke away the shield of the day. Emma didn’t gasp this time as she had the first. She didn’t turn and run. Instead, she stood her ground and waited.

“My friend,” he said, his voice deep. “Come to find some more elixir?”

“You know it! Do you know where he is this evening? It’s been awhile since I’ve seen him.”

“Indeed, it has,” the troll answered. “He has changed his hiding place.”

Emma nodded, wishing the troll would speak faster. It was as if everything was in slow motion with him to a point where she was near falling asleep sometimes while she waited for his answer.

“He is down by the market. Far side. Red cap, as always.”

Emma smiled and bowed her head slightly. “Anything you desire from him?”

“Oh no,” the troll smiled but it looked more like a grimace. “He brings me mine.”

“All right,” she said. Crawling up on the troll’s arms and body to his head, Emma patted his cheek before she pressed her lips to his rough, stoney skin. “Until next time, my friend.”
