Today I’m glad to bring Sirena Robinson’s debut novel, Devil’s Dilemma, to your attention. Devil’s Dilemma is the first in a series of novels that Sirena has written which flow off the apocalypse story, bringing it about in a new and fantastical way. I’m bringing a review to you today. I first met Sirena just over a year ago when I was emailed the prologue to her novel. I immediately latched on to it and fell in love. I was emailed through a service called Project Team Beta, which finds beta readers for aspiring authors in original fiction and fan fiction. Sirena’s series could not be more original.

Devil’s Dilemma takes us from the beginning of life to the end of life. It’s a great story and tale of what can happen when everything goes wrong and when Devils and Angels are allowed to mess with the natural order of things. All I kept saying as I was reading the first part of this novel was “Poor Griffin!” She was born for a specific reason, completely out of chance, and was thrust into a game she clearly wanted nothing to do with.

Griffin was a child born of a death and thus called to be the Chosen. She was called to make a decision between Heaven and Hell, to be the determining factor in a long wait for a decision and a lot wait of who would have reign. Griffin made her choice, which in reality seemed to be an easy one, but the trials and tribulations of sticking to that choice were far harder than either her or her protector, Braxton, could have imagined.

Angels and Devils came in and out of their lives with not much more than a “Go do this!” “This will happen!” “We need you” and “We want you to die.” She was tossed into a snake pit of fear, torture and the unknown. All the while this was happening, Griffin’s only hope was to survive until the time was right.

Sirena writes this novel at a quick and fast pace, never leaving out a moment of tenderness when it’s needed. She keeps the characters alive and intriguing by getting into their heads. There’s tension that rises and development in personality that one could never expect. Sirena was able to keep me on my toes throughout this novel, and it’s certainly my favorite in the series thus far.

Griffin’s story was so poignant and emotionally moving that I had a tough time waiting for Sirena to send the next chapter. I just wanted to finish it as quickly as possible. Griffin’s story along with all the religious elements had me hooked from the first page. This is definitely a one of a kind novel.
