De-Termination (Quarter Life Book 2) has launched! #booklaunch #newrelease #vampire

On December 1, my first book in 4.5 years launched! De-Termination (Quarter Life Book 2) has entered into the world as we know it.

This book was originally supposed to launch in October 2016, and I apologize sincerely for its delay, but I’m in a  much better place now to launch it than I was then.

Book 3, Release, is WRITTEN! And has a publication date in 2021. So do not fear, you will not have to wait another 4.5 years for that one. I’m slated to begin work on Book 4 this December.

Here’s what you need to know about De-Termination.

Faye’s been Molly’s lover and agent for her creature-hunting friends for a year, but she’s still unsettled and unwilling to fully explore her Tainted Side. She is sent on a mission and disappears in South America.

Molly, a powerful witch, searches for Faye ruthlessly, leading to conflict with her team. Meanwhile, she’s brought Amelia in to help, and Amelia has her sights on seducing Molly as things fall apart.

There may no longer be such a thing as home sweet home.

Manipulating a powerful witch isn’t as easy as Faye hoped.

She infiltrates Molly the witch’s mysterious house under the guise of needing help. And the guise of being harmless. Totally not a vampire at all. Unfortunately, Molly’s secrets are difficult to discover. She’s almost as good at hiding things as Faye herself.

Molly’s staff are as weird as they are distrustful, but Faye begins to win Molly over. Then A mob boss discovers what Faye’s after. Faye finds herself putting her life in Molly’s hands.

Will secrets doom their relationship, or will they form a powerful team?

The enemy isn’t always who we expect.

The wicked witch reigns supreme. As Molly gets closer to Dark Face in an attempt to locate Faye and draw her home, she makes reckless decisions, which are oftentimes dangerous.

With a frantic phone call, Faye leaves her respite and goes on a mission to save Molly. She flies across the world to find Molly’s trainer, a witch named Malek, who has more answers than Faye knew she had questions.

They never hesitate to go to the ends of the earth to save each other, but this time, it leads Faye directly into Dark Face’s hands.

De-Termination (Quarter Life 2) #amwriting #backlist #newrelease #comingsoon

SO! I realized this morning that I had announced over on my Facebook but I forgot to announce here. Ooops!

De-Termination (Quarter life 2) will release on December 1st!

This is huge, you guys. Seriously. This book was originally supposed to release in 2016, but life got in my way, and instead of writing it, I didn’t. I finally wrote it this summer, and since a lot of the back work was already done (cover, blurb, etc) because it’s been planned for 4 years, my publisher and I agreed to release it December 1st rather than wait until 2021.

What this means for everyone else.

Unbound (Quarter Life 1) is currently on sale (ebook only) for $2.99. If you get it and read it, please leave a review! They are so helpful in many ways, AND it lets me know what you think. I don’t even care if you hated it, leave me a review. =P

De-Termination releases December 1st, so ARC copies will be going around shortly and a blog tour set up, and a release event. If you are an author or blogger and interested in any of those, let me know.

NOW for the fun part!

I have decided every Tuesday from here on out, I will be doing a live reading from Unbound every week until De-Termination releases. I’ll be reading one chapter a week over on my Facebook page. It’ll net us 7-8 chapters I believe. Chapter 1 is already up.

This is a huge celebration for me. I’ve been out of the writing game for 4-5 years, and it feels so good to be back in it! Let’s celebrate in a huge way!

Faye’s been Molly’s lover and agent for her creature-hunting friends for a year, but she’s still unsettled and unwilling to fully-explore her Tainted Side. She is sent on a mission and disappears in South America.

Molly, a powerful witch, searches for Faye ruthlessly, leading to conflict with her team. Meanwhile, she’s brought Amelia in to help, and Amelia has her sights on seducing Molly as things fall apart.

A Mission and a Risk #WIPpetWednesday

And here we are at ANOTHER WIPpet Wednesday. So excited to be here. =P I’m sharing from a book titled De-Termination, which is the second Quarter Life book. I published Unbound in 2015! That seems like so flipping long ago, it’s hard to imagine. I didn’t realize it had been that long.

This book has been lingering–outlined 2/3 of the way–in my files on my computer. I knew that whenever I got back to writing, it would be one of the first I worked on. I finished the outline and have written about 45,000 words of the book (as of writing this blog post for you on Tuesday afternoon). It’s set to be over 100,000 words total when all is said and done.

This scene comes to us from the 16th chapter. Molly (my witchy BFF) is on a rescue with her protege (Joel) and tech guru (Ben) to find Faye. Faye (my vampy lunatic) vanished like ten chapters ago, and Molly’s crew had no idea where she’d gone off to or why she was gone. They obviously figured most of that out and are now out to rescue their newfound friend.

This book takes place about one year after Unbound. PS, I’ve already thought out what will happen in book 3, tentatively titled Release, and I might be itching to outline it fully soon, though I’m trying to hold off until I finish this one.

Here’s the WIPpet. 21 sentences for (8 x 5) – 20 = 20 + 1 for good luck!

They walked another kilometer in complete silence, not wanting to alert whoever had taken Faye that they were arriving. Molly kept her wits about her, relying on Joel’s empathic abilities to alert her if anyone was in the vicinity. Through silent communication, they knew they were alone.
She used her hand to direct them as they reached the ravine. Putting one finger over her mouth, she made sure they stayed quiet. Her heart rapped in her chest. She was about to attempt something either very stupid or life saving. Closing her eyes, she cast a protection spell over Ben and Joel, weaving the protection net around their bodies. If they stayed put they would be fine.
Licking her lips, Molly put her hand up so Joel and Ben could see from where they were hidden. She waved and then she focused all her magic. She’d done this spell before, had failed at it before, but she had done it. There was no telling if it would work this time, especially because she had no idea where exactly Faye was.

Listening to her own breathing, Molly calmed her heart. She focused on Faye. Her smile, her scent, her voice, their love. With that brimming and swirling within her, Molly called on the power of force, manipulating it, changing time and space.

This had to work. This had to be it. Molly could taste it. They were close to bringing her home.

Long time no type…?

It has been a long time since I have truly ventured into the world of writing and publishing. I wanted to be sure in my last foray into it that I was going to stick with it. I’m glad to say it’s been about a month now of me writing consistently, well mostly.

I had two unfinished romance novels that I have finished this month. The first is tentatively titled Learning Love and involves lessons in life we all need. The second is titled About Time and is a sweet sassy romance between a doctor and a chaplain.

I’ve also begun looking at some of my series again. I reread Unbound this past weekend…yes, the whole thing in two days. I forgot how freakin’ crazy Faye is! haha Before I dropped off the face of the planet, I had outlined 3/4 of the second book. I already knew everything that was going to happen and Faye has been reminding me that I need to write her.

I’ll be working on De-Termination next. But this is a LONG book, 41 chapters planned already! So it’ll be a bit for it to come to fruition. While I’d intended this book to drop in 2017, it’ll now hopefully be 2021!

Next up? My best friend, Grace. God, Grace needs some attention so badly!

Some people might think I’ve been focusing on having two toddlers running around which is why I put a pause on writing, but it is so much more than that. After experiencing an incredibly medically complicated and scary miscarriage in early 2017 and then a near death experience in 2018, I had to focus on my own mental well being. I had to figure my shit out, in other words. I’m still working on it, but I also realize how much I need to be writing to keep my sanity.

Back to the grind, then!

The troll under the bridge… #WIPpetWednesday

Hello all! It’s been 4 weeks since I’ve posted last! Insanity, I say! Well, I’m back and I’m ready to post. It’s also been awhile since I’ve written. Talking with my publisher last night has instilled in me the need to write yet again (although, it might have been instilled before then, but it’s going to happen now).

I don’t know if I’ve ever shared this, but I do have a writing goal per year. My goal is to publish 2-3 books a year, and thus far I’ve maintained that. But in 2015, I only have 1 book ready for publishing. Unfortunately, this means I need to get my ass in gear. Like seriously in gear.

So I have new goals. I did also drop off the ROW80 bandwagon, and it’s pretty much over for this round, so when the next round starts, I’ll be joining in that again. For now I have 3 goals until this end of the year.

1. Write 1 chapter of Quarter Life: Unbound every day. My goal was to write 1667 words (like fake NaNo) every day, but I think it’s just easier on my mind to do one chapter. The chapters in this novel are only about 2,000 words each anyway, so what’s a little more going to hurt? =P This will be finished just before NaNoWriMo.

2. Write a short story for submission to an anthology which is an introduction to Emma from the Quarter Life series. The story needs to be 8k-15k words, and guess what!? I already have the plot in my head.

3. During NaNoWriMo get at least 50k words written on Grace through Redemption, finish the novel if at all possible. If I don’t finish the novel during NaNo, then I’ll finish it during December and hopefully have it ready for publication late in 2015. If not, Unbound will be there for 2015 and I’ll have 2 novels for my goal!

I’m sharing my goals with you all so you can yell at me when I’m not working and hold me accountable.

As for WIPpet Wednesday, I’m finally getting to it, since I’m working on writing Unbound again and since I’ve finally made some good significant progress, I’m going to share from it. My math is simple today 30 short sentences. 24 +2 + 4 = 30

I wrote this yesterday morning in a writing sprint, and I’m absolutely in love with it. So here’s an excerpt from chapter 13 of Unbound. Emma has snuck out of the house, she isn’t sure if she’s going back due to something that happened, and she needs to get her “energy” fix. She’s trying to find her dealer. So here you go…the fantastical world Emma lives in come to life.

Heading down to the old part of town, Emma walked in the light rain. It drizzled on her face, soaking her sweatshirt and hair with the mist. She was drenched by the time she got to the bridge where she knew the troll lived.

Sneering, Emma slipped under the far end of it and leaned against the cement support. She took two deep breaths before turning around to face the carved troll and lifted her cheeks to his eyes.

“Hello, my friend,” she stated. She’d only come here once or twice before, but the troll would know what she needed to find.

The stone cracked and ground as it moved, the troll’s face becoming animated s it broke away the shield of the day. Emma didn’t gasp this time as she had the first. She didn’t turn and run. Instead, she stood her ground and waited.

“My friend,” he said, his voice deep. “Come to find some more elixir?”

“You know it! Do you know where he is this evening? It’s been awhile since I’ve seen him.”

“Indeed, it has,” the troll answered. “He has changed his hiding place.”

Emma nodded, wishing the troll would speak faster. It was as if everything was in slow motion with him to a point where she was near falling asleep sometimes while she waited for his answer.

“He is down by the market. Far side. Red cap, as always.”

Emma smiled and bowed her head slightly. “Anything you desire from him?”

“Oh no,” the troll smiled but it looked more like a grimace. “He brings me mine.”

“All right,” she said. Crawling up on the troll’s arms and body to his head, Emma patted his cheek before she pressed her lips to his rough, stoney skin. “Until next time, my friend.”

Light And Sweet Tour Banner

The sisters of the Sacred Hearts Coven are at it again…

This time sister Maiden Esmeralda asks her sisters to help her cast a spell to help friend and café patron Lilly fill her heart with something that lasts more than one date.

Lilly has spent the better part of a year going on one blind date after another. Esmeralda think she knows the perfect guy for her. The only problem is that she doesn’t want to set them up on another blind date. If only she could get them to meet in the coffee shop they both frequent on a daily basis.

When things don’t quite go right with Esmeralda’s spell, she doesn’t know what to do. Will some enchanted salted caramel syrup be enough to heat up Lilly’s love life, or will it lose steam? Her heart’s desires might only be a cup of coffee away.

WIPpet Wednesday! August 20, 2013

Well, here we go. I’m back! Yay! School has started, work has started, I’m moving in 9 days, life is about to stay insane for awhile. But! the writing is good, as it always is. I have been awarded the wonderful position of Municipal Liaison for NaNoWriMo in the DFW region. I’m so excited to see what November has to bring. While I was gone for two amazing weeks, I got the proofs for the book cover for Dying Embers, which should coming out in December. w00t!

I also got to play with my new godsons, which is even better!!

Anyway, enough rambling, without further ado, 14 sentences from chapter 7 (20-8=12+2=14) of the newest thing with no name. To join in WIPpet Wednesday, just post some of your WIP (Work In Progress) and have it in some way correlate with the date. Feel free to get crazy with the math. Once you do that, go here and link it up and check out everyone else’s!

So Molly was a witch. Not something she completely expected, but it fit everything that Emma knew about the woman. Starting with why there were never any photos of her.

Witches lived for nearly ever, their aging process slowed down until it would take close to three hundred years before one wrinkle would appear on her pretty face. Emma had no idea how old Molly was, but if she had to guess, she’d say at least over a hundred and probably closer to two hundred.

Emma heard heels on the floor coming down the hall and she started to panic. She needed her purse. Flipping onto her other side, she looked at the night stand and sighed when she saw her purse sitting on top of it. Emma reached out and slid her hand inside, grabbing the tiny eight ounce water bottle. Twisting the already broken seal, she took the cap off and downed the contents of the bottle.

It was her last one. Putting the bottle back into her purse, she laid on her back and stared at the door just as Molly came through. Emma’s heart pounded in her chest and she tried to hide the flush in her cheeks. Molly instantly came over to her, concern written all over her features.
