An interview with Piper Kay #authorcorner

Today I have Piper Kay here answering some interview questions. Please give her a warm welcome!

When did you first start writing?

December of 2010 is when I decided I would finally give it a try and see what happened.

How did you go about that, had you already researched into it all?

No, I had actually never been online in my life when my kids told me to get fb. Once I managed to do that, I found the writers groups after that, and joined. There is a group of 5 girls, and we’re still together. 2 were established authors, 3 were not. Everyone is now, and she just got her document back from an editor.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?

September 2012 when I signed my first publishing contract with Evernight Publishing

Did you receive any rejection notices?

I did get one, I sent in my first story, which ended up being a HFN happy for now, and they required a happily ever after. I read it wrong. lol

What inspired you to write your first book?

The characters in my head wouldn’t leave me alone. I threatened them, but they wouldn’t leave, only threatened back, to explode my brain

What authors inspire you?

Anne Rice of course, but Indie authors are Poppet Author, Kindle Alexander and Rue Volley

Do you see writing as a full time job/a career?

I’m trying to see it that way, yes. Definitely the full time job for now.

Can you share a little of your current work with us?  Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Invicta Salvation is a story of Holt and Kade, how they connected and went through their journey for fifteen years. They achieve Invicta, a men’s go-go club, which soon becomes more that a club on book two. They didn’t want any of their dancers to go through the things they did. The actual place becomes their safe haven and the people become more that just co-worker’s. They actually will go through situations and help each other resolve or figure out how to handle them as a family unit

Who designed the covers?

The Invicta Series, all of the covers are being done a wonderful lady, Karrie Jax. She is a good friend of mine and does an excellent job. For Eight Second Cowboy it was Poppet who did it and the Passion Series and Naughty Box designs it was Rue Volley

Who are the models?

On Payce’s Passion I used Justin Fellers, on Invicta Salvation, it is Jake Bass and on Invicta Sanctuary it is Mickey Taylor.

So this just released, and you have another one releasing on July 13th, tell me about that.

Well Invicta Salvation did release the end of May. It is the first book in a series of five. Book two, Invicta Sanctuary comes out Sunday, but the only way to get it is through a boxed set we are releasing. It’s called The Naughty Box 2. My Invicta story is included in the set which is 9 authors, but we’re only selling the set for 99 cents.

Will it be available as a solo eventually or in print?

It will, about 3 months after the boxed set is released, the stories will stay in the set together, but also go solo so we can do the print. We are also doing audio books, etc for the Naughty Box, so excited about that.

Invicta02 Sanctuary - cover - 1000px 300dpi

What is your sanctuary? For Mickey, he never needed one, he was his own. Until now. In a situation spinning out of control, Mickey is forced to make a move and he’s not sure how to handle it. He’s an intelligent, self-reliant man who never depended on anyone for anything, but now he is alone for the first time in his life, scared. By accident, he ends up at Invicta, the hottest new male go-go dance club in town. Owners, Kade and Holt, know the behavior all too well, but Mickey’s trust factor is leveling out on zero, until he spots Toryn. Sometimes sanctuary can be found in the strangest of places.

Live on July 13th!
