WIPpet Wednesday August 28, 2013

Welcome, welcome, welcome! It’s Wednesday. That means it’s WIPpet Wednesday. That means you get an excerpt from my current WIP (Work In Progress).

Here’s the deal. And feel free to join in. Just write a post with your current WIP and have the excerpt somehow relate to the date. So, since today is August 28th, my WIPpet has ten sentences 2+8 = 10. See? Simple. Then you go here and link it all up. Check out everyone elses posts and comment and have a good ol’ time.

Without further ado, here you go. Joel and Molly talking about the elusive Emma.

“She’s lying.”

Pressing a hand over her heart, Molly turned to see Joel sitting on the long couch in her darkened office. She flicked the light on and glared at him before sitting down next to him.

“What do you mean?”

“I don’t know. I mean she’s not really lying because I would be able to tell you if she was lying, but there is something else going on that you have no idea about. You haven’t even scratched the surface of it.”

“Joel—”

“I’m serious, Molly. She’s bad juju.”

  1. “She’s bad juju.” I just love that. And I love learning about characters through the eyes of other characters.

  2. So Emma is puzzling over Molly because Molly is probably a witch, and now Molly is puzzling over Emma because she’s … “bad juju”. I love it!

  3. LOL, I’m a broken record to be repeating everyone else, but I LOVED that line!! Quirky words like that help create awesome humor, especially when it’s what you don’t expect someone to say. I loved it!!!

  4. I have always loved the phrase “bad juju” and yet I don’t think I’ve ever actually used it myself. This is a really intriguing excerpt – I like that there’s something going on but they can’t place what yet.

Tell me what you think. I wanna know!
